TEAMS gaining steam plunge back to action in seek for more wins in the resumption of the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.

Winners of two straight, TNT KaTropa (2-1) wants to keep moving up the ladder as it will be heavily favored against woeful sister team NLEX (0-4) in their 4:15 p.m. encounter at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City today.

Following that is a clash between Philippine Cup champion San Miguel (1-0) and Phoenix (2-2), who are both winners in their last assignments, at 7 p.m. in the nightcap.

After dropping their opening game, the Tropang Texters came around in their last two games, winning them systematically to build some much needed steam.

In their last game, they tripped another hapless team in Blackwater, 92-89, with rookie Roger Pogoy leading the way with 24 points.

On the other hand, the Road Warriors just can’t seem to do anything right as their agony continues.

They are still winless in four games and they remain at the bottom of the heap. They last dropped a heartbreaking 103-105 decision to league-leading Star.

Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters forward JC Intal (7) protects the basketball against San Miguel Beer defender Chris Ross.

In its debut last Sunday, it didn’t take long for San Miguel to find its touch as it gave erstwhile unbeaten and league-leading Meralco its first lost with a convincing 99-92 drubbing.

The usual suspects for the Beermen, June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot and Arwind Santos, are all in game mode already while import Charles Rhodes seems to be fitting in just fine with them as well.

Phoenix is also coming off an impressive victory the last time out.

The Fuel Masters gave Barangay Ginebra a rude welcome to the conference by taking a 94-91 squeaker last Saturday in Davao City, snapping a two-game slide.
