The House Committee on Good Government resumes its investigation into the alleged bidding irregulaties at the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

These anomalies led to the suicide of Former ERC Director Francisco Villa Jr. in November last year.

The probe centers on the office of ERC Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Jose Vicente Salazar.

Three transactions that were conducted reportedly without public bidding or proper procurement process are being scrutinized:

First is the renovation of ERC’s conference room.

Second is the acquisition of pest control services.

Third is the hiring of an advertising agent as consultant.

Surigao Del Sur Representative and Committee Chairman Johnny Pimentel had said, Director Villa was pressured to “fix up the biddings” and approve the deals after they have been contracted.

Attending the hearing is Villa’s sister, veteral broadcast journalist Charie Villa.

Pimentel earlier said, the committee is willing to hold a closed-door hearing her if she so wishes.
