The Commission on Appointments (CA) has junked the nomination of Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Perfecto Yasay.
CA Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Panfilo Lacson made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
Lacson said, all the 15 members of the CA unanimously voted to reject the confirmation of the DFA secretary.
Yasay had said he did not lie to the CA when he said he was not a United States citizen, although he also did not fully disclose all the details on this issue.
He faced the commission on Wednesday morning.
CA member and Occidental Mindoro Representative Josephine Ramirez-Sato was among those who grilled him.
Upon learning that he failed to secure the confirmation of the CA, Yasay said, God must have a different plan for him.
He added that at least now, he has time to get a haircut.
Meanwhile, DFA says, it respects the decision of the congressional body.
