AFTER six months of action-packed Sunday games, the championship has arrived.
The PNP Responders and the Malacañang Kamao start their best-of-three showdown Sunday, 5 p.m. at the Pasig City Sports Center in the UNTV Cup Season 5 Finals.
The Responders, who faced the Judiciary Magis in the season 1 finals and the AFP Cavaliers in seasons 2 and 4, will attempt to clinch the title for the fourth time.
On the other hand, the Malacañang Kamao, formerly Malacañang Patriots, who failed to beat the Judiciary Magis in the season 3 championship series, try to win it all on Sunday.
“We will show the value of a team that plays as one, with team work and with good relationship,” said Malacanang Kamao Head Coach Louie Gonzales.
Coach Erick Samson of the Responders said the team is working hard to further improve the various aspects of their game.
“We must focus on how to start the game. At the same time, defense. There are many loopholes. Secondly, our field goal percentage, we must still adjust in that department,” said Samson.
Over P8 million in cash prizes await the league of public servants this season, all of which will be donated to the chosen beneficiaries of each team.
In the battle for third place, two-time champion Judiciary Magis and rookie team BOC Transformers clash at 3 p.m.
A P1-million cash prize awaits the winner in this match, while half a million pesos is in store for the losing team.
The matches will be aired live on UNTV, with live streaming via untvweb.com.
