CEBU CITY”•A 15-year-old girl drowned Monday morning after the floodwaters brought by tropical cyclone “Auring” swept her away in Landahan village in Toledo City some 50 kilometers west of Cebu City, an official said.

The body of Hannah Bea Villaflores was recovered in Sitio Angkay at 11:40 a.m. about three kilometers from where she was swept away, said Alexander Abella, disaster management officer of Toledo City.

”The flood was already chest-high and she was washed away by the strong current,” Abella said.

He quoted witnesses as saying that the girl lost her balance and hurt her head before she disappeared into the water.

At least 20 families had been  evacuated to the Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City as of noon on Monday following the cyclone’s onslaught.
