The Manila International Airport Authority will hold today a medical mission and donation of lost and found clothing and other items for less fortunate individuals and indigent residents from six barangays near the vicinity of the airport.

In a memorandum signed by MIAA assistant general manager for security and emergency services Elenita Fernando, the donation of 100 boxes of clothing, shoes, bags and other items will be conducted at the Airport Police Headquarters situated near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport around 8 a.m.

Fernando said the MIAA also requested the assistance of Dr. James Dy, president and chief executive officer of the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center, to arrange personnel who will provide medical and dental treatments.

The event is in line with MIAA’s Memorandum Circular 07-M series 2010 and the agency’s Corporate Social Responsibility to have Community Outreach Program for the less fortunate or indigent individuals.

“Memorandum Circular 07-M establishes guidelines and procedures for disposition of lost and found items which stated that after the lapse of the six months retention period, clothing, shoes, bags, and toiletries, among others, shall be donated to charitable institutions and or MIAA-sponsored outreach programs,” Fernando said.

A team from the MIAA Medical Clinic and representatives from the Department of Health will also help in the medical and dental mission.

In the past, the MIAA management held medical missions and gift-giving activities in various government facilities such as the New Bilibid Prison.
