THE 36-member Quezon City Council passed on Monday a measure requiring the installation of dash board cameras in all police vehicles.

The ordinance, principally authored by Councilor Gian Carlo Sotto, underscored the need to equip law enforcers with state-of-the-art monitoring devices to help beef up the city’s anti-crime drive.

Mayor Herbert Bautista vowed to invest P150 million in the capability upgrade of the QCPD and Bureau of Fire Protection.

The city is also exploring the possibility of providing each of the Quezon City Police District’s 12 police stations with a command center for inter-operability with other networks.

“Plans are also under way for the construction of additional police stations in Quezon City to ensure police presence in every corner of the city,” the council said.
