LINGAYEN—Pangasinan will honor the town or city with the most complete government statistics during the 27th National Statistics Month in October.

Gov. Amado Espino III issued Executive Order 0095-A-2016 reorganizing a provincial task force in charge of the search for the Most Statistically Developed Local Government Unit, one of the highlights of the month-long celebration.

Now on its fourth year, the search recognizes the best practices and innovative strategies of LGUs in the use of statistics as a tool for local governance.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “Sustainable Development: Making Statistics Count” (Pangmatagalang Pag-unlad, Estadistika’y may Ambag).

Statistics quiz, essay writing, oration, poster and slogan and jingle-making contests are open to secondary and tertiary school students.

Winners in division level eliminations to be conducted by six schools divisions of the Department of Education in the province—Pangasinan 1, Pangasinan II, Alaminos City, San Carlos City, Urdaneta City and Dagupan City—will advance to the provincial eliminations.

Provincial eliminations have been set on October 5 for oration at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center; on October 11 for poster and slogan making at the PTDC, statistics quiz at the Malong building conference room, jingle making at the Pangasinan Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) conference room and essay writing at the Palaris conference room.

Essay writing contest for provincial capitol employees is also set on October 11.

Provincial winners of various NSM contests will represent the province in the regional competition.

Other NSM activities include: information dissemination of population statistics and new civil registration laws forum on October 14 at the PTDC; coastal resource education activity by the Provincial Agriculture Office on October 19 at the West Central Elementary School in San Fabian; ISTIV Bayanihan and Green Productivity Enhancement Seminar at the CB Mall Urdaneta on October 21; and Recycling / Waste Management Workshop on October 25 to be spearheaded by the Provincial Solid Waste Management team.

PESO Pangasinan will also conduct a job fair on October 26 at its compound in Lingayen.

The public is invited to the statistical exhibit at the National Statistical Information Center at the Malong building within the Capitol Complex from October 3-30. Statistical exhibits will also be held at SM Rosales and CSI Alaminos.

The closing program of the regional NSM celebration is slated on October 27 in BSP-La Union while the provincial level culminating activity is scheduled on the following day at the Sison Auditorium.
