BAGUIO CITY—Some 40 residents of Baguio and Benguet were given technical-vocational scholarship grants by the SM Foundation, the social responsibility arm of SM Group.
The foundation revealed 20 out-of-school youth are taking culinary arts and the rest study restaurant servicing at the Baguio City School of Arts and Trade under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority program.
SM Foundation said the 40 tech-voc scholars from Baguio and Benguet will just be the initial batch of grantees in the program and it will continue to screen potential scholars especially in the countryside.
Scholarships were awarded to more than 1,000 beneficiaries in simple ceremonies at the SM Mall of Asia recently.
Of the 1,000 total scholars of the foundation, 300 came from the National Capital Region, 300 from different parts of Luzon, another 300 were from the Visayas, and 100 scholars come from Mindanao.
