Valenzuela deploys 101 more lawmen

To beef up its campaign against illegal drugs, the local government of Valenzuela has added 101 lawmen to the city police force.

The new law enforcers were recruited from the Regional Public Safety Battalion of the National Capital Regional Police Office.

The new cops—10 females and 91 males—will be detailed to 12 community precincts in 33 barangays in the city.

According to Valenzuela chief of police Senior Supt. Ronaldo Mendoza, the usual citizen-policeman ratio of 1:833 will be reduced to 1:734. Mendoza said the standard ratio is 1:500. 

Meanwhile, nine suspected drug pushers were arrested by Valenzuela police in different operations. The suspects were identified as Christian de Vera, Ryan Margallo, Armando Quintal, Leonora Pondivida, Ramoncito Lopez, Ronald Ricamara, Ernesto Austria, Marissa Adoc and Allan Herrera.

The suspects are now facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
