LABOR Secretary Silvestre Bello III ordered the dismissal from the public service a Philippine Overseas Employment Administration employee for extorting money to applicants wanting to work abroad.

Bello said that the DoLE Legal Service found Roland Quintos, Labor and Employment Officer II of POEA, liable for serious dishonesty, grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.

Bello said that aside from the penalty of dismissal, Quintos also faces cancellation of eligibility, forfeiture of retirement benefits, and perpetual disqualification for holding public office and bar from taking civil service examination.

Based on the findings of the Legal Assistance Division on the separate complaints against Quintos, it was found out that he was demanding money from Edielyn Vega, Belinda Fausto, Susan Carbonilla, Maria Rina Rilla, and Florence Fajardo in exchange of the return of their travel documents and departure.
