Relia Inc., one of the largest business process outsourcing companies in Japan, acquired the customer relationship management business of SPi Global in the Philippines, the United States and Nicaragua.

“SPi CRM is a natural and strategic fit for Relia. Maulik [Parekh] and his management team has built a strong company with a culture similar to ours focused on creating significant value for its employees, its clients and its investors,” Relia president Jun Nakagome said.

Parekh is the president and chief of executive of SPi Global.

“With our combined strengths, we will give birth to one of Asia’s biggest BPO providers with over 30,000 employees in over 40 locations serving 700 clients globally, many of them Fortune 100 companies,” Nakagome said.

PLDT Inc. earlier sold 80 percent of SPi Global to CVC Capital Partners for $300 million in 2013 while the country’s largest telco kept a 20-percent stake in the BPO service provider that started in the Philippines.
