When it comes to TV networks, Filipinos highly trust ABS-CBN Corporation as their source of information and entertainment.
Recently, ABS-CBN was the recipient of the Platinum Trusted Brand Award, the highest honor given to a brand at the annual Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards 2016 organized by Reader’s Digest Asia-Pacific.
While ABS-CBN had won the Gold Trusted Brand award for the TV Network category for five consecutive years from 2010 to 2015, this is the first time that it bagged the Platinum Trusted Brand Award since 2010.
According to Reader’s Digest, the Platinum Trusted Brand award is given to “brands that performed exceptionally, winning their category with a score that vastly outpolled their nearest competitor.”
For the 2016 Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand survey, ABS-CBN, the country’s leading media and entertainment organization, emerged as the top scorer in the TV network category in a survey conducted among consumers in the Philippines spearheaded by CATALYST, a global market research company. Around 1,000 respondents were surveyed in the Philippines.
Survey participants gave high ratings to ABS-CBN based on the qualitative criteria of trustworthiness, credibility, quality, value, understanding of customer needs, innovation and social responsibility. Half of the respondents were Reader’s Digest subscribers, while the remainder was composed of randomly selected respondents that reflected the demographics of the general population.
Meanwhile, Kapamilya star Toni Gonzaga is also this year’s Most Trusted Entertainment/Variety Show Presenter, a special award honoring the country’s most trusted personalities.
Reader’s Digest defines trust as “an emotion that fuels our decision whether we are conscious of it or not. It is that intangible quality that signals reliability and integrity.”
Now on its 18th year, the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands Survey in Asia is conducted annually and seeks to identify which brands consumers in Asia trust, and provides an objective and reliable reference for consumers throughout the region.
