Mall rats recently had a glimpse of Chrysalis, a theatrical street performance by two French artists at the SM Aura Premier Sky Park and entrance.

A joint partnership between Alliance Francaise de Manille and SM Aura Premier, the project aims to promote French artistry in celebration of the International Francophonie Day.

The International Francophonie Day is an annual weeklong celebration of the anniversary of the birth of the Intergovernmental Francophonie cooperation. Francophonie is the term used to refer to all people and countries speaking the French language, and Francophonie Day celebrates the French language and the values of the French speaking countries around the world. It was French geographer Onesime Reclus first used the term Francophone in 1880.

French dancers and acrobats Kevin Troussart and Vania D’Angelo star in “Chrysalis,” a visual and poetic performance about attractions in an intimate relationship

Chrysalis is a theatrical street performance directed by Jordi L. Vidal, a Catalan choreographer and stage director. Vidal’s creative horizon reaches further than the world of dance and theater, including chamber music ensembles, circus and street theater companies, video creations, and art installations.

Chrysalis follows the story of a highly emotional couple, who perform using a rope, which symbolizes the many aspects of life, particularly in relationship. It shows the ups and downs of a relationship- starting on how it begins, from courtship, to getting married, as well as the struggles and emotional challenges of love.

The 20-minute performance wowed the shoppers of SM Aura Premier as this is something that is not seen frequently in the Philippines.

The Chrysalis performance is one of the many enriching cross-cultural events at SM Aura Premier.
