The House of Representatives Tuesday night resumed its deliberations on the Palace-backed  draft Bangsamoro Basic Law.

The   House was able to proceed with the deliberations on the BBL with 175 lawmakers present at the session hall—an enough number to declare the presence of quorum.

House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr.   earlier said the House will finalize amendments to the BBL, embodied in substituted House Bill 4994, or An Act Providing Basic Law for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

The House is expected to pass the measure at least on second reading before Congress adjourns sessions next month.

The proposed  law seeks to abolish the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao by creating a new Bangsamoro region which will be given additional autonomy.

The BBL’s passage is provided in the peace agreement signed by the Aquino government with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in March last year.
