Former Land Transportation Office chief Virginia “Virgie” Torres died of heart attack Saturday morning.
Torres’ brother, Ruben Torres, was quoted in a media interview as saying that she died at The Medical City in Clark Field, Pampanga around 1:30 a.m. She was 62.
His brother said they were surprised about her sudden heart attack. Torres had remained unperturbed despite criticisms raised against her while in public office, he said.
Torres was among the first officials appointed by President Benigno Aquino III when he assumed power in 2010.
Torres was a reputed ‘kababata’ of the President in Hacienda Luisita. Maricel V. Cruz
