Summer is just around the corner but for Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand, summer arrived last week with the launch of its 2015 spring and summer collection, featuring a full line of swim wear and accessories for swimmers of all types and ages, from recreational to competitive, and to those who swim only for health and fun.
Held at the Glorietta in Makati, both the invited guests and the public were treated to a preview of Speedo’s collection, which focused on graphics, prints, and colors revolving around the theme Intensity. How appropriate, considering the intense heat of the forthcoming summer months.
Its Swim Fitness Collection now features more compression panels, making the suits feel tighter, while the panels help fitness swim buffs engage the core muscles, minimizing drag and energy, and makes maintaining a horizontal streamlined position in the water easier for a more efficient performance.
The Speedo Sculpture Selection, inspired by the theme Magnify, draws on microscopic views and uses classic graphics, bold colors and bright prints in colorful capsules. This collection also features a new high stretch fabric exclusive to Speedo, the Xtra Life LYCRA, enabling swimsuits to last up to 10 times longer than conventional swimwear. As a result, there is a softer, lighter and smoother suit, but with the same great shaping power that enhances feminine curves combined with a natural feeling.
For competitive swimmers, Speedo has updated its Fastskin LZR Racer Elite 2 with increased water repellency but retaining its highly compressive and lightweight qualities to help maintain a strong body position in the water, this was the result of Speedo’s global research and development team’s efforts as it analyzed the physical and psychological aspects of competitive swimming with over 330 elite swimmers including American Olympian Ryan Lochte who has won five gold medals, three silvers, and three bronzes in past Olympic Games, and 20 swimming experts from 28 countries. The research included 3D scanning of swimmers’ bodies to identify exactly where a swimsuit could offer support and compression of specific muscle groups, enhancing the body’s muscle kinetic chain for maximum speed and performance.
At the same time, the company also launched its Competitive Training Collection that took inspiration from the look of chemical and biological reactions, amplified by contrasting colors with both the adult and junior styles, using improved comfort threads and are made using Speedo’s exclusive Endurance fabrics that feature increased chlorine resistance , superior softness, and longer lasting fit.
Among the models was former swimming champion, multi-titled Akiko Thomson-Guevara, who paraded on the ramp with husband Chips and their two sons.
For beach lovers, Speedo unveiled a variety of fashionable designs in its Play & Fun Collection, featuring flattering feminine styles that come in one piece, bikinis, and tankinis.
To go with the new swimwear collections, new and improved Speedo goggles were also included in the launch, boasting of the revolutionary Speedo Biofuse and IQfit technologies. The Aquapulse Max 2 has been updated to provide a more secure and accurate fit, while the Futura Biofuse features a smoother seal and frame for even better comfort. The Speedo Fastskin Elite Mirror goggles have been made available in bright colors.
