The local government of Muntinlupa has earned its second consecutive Jose Rizal Award from the Department of Health for its outstanding blood donation services—the highest citation in the agency’s Dugong Bayani Awards.

DoH lauded Muntinlupa, through Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, for donating 3,856 blood units with over 200 regular donors during the 2017 Dugong Bayani Awarding Ceremony held at Hotel Rembrandt, Quezon City last Dec. 1.

Conferring the award to Fresnedi were Philippine Blood Center chief Dr. Andres Bonifacio, National Voluntary Blood Services Program manager Marites Estrella, and PBC Technical Management head Dr. Francis Dematera.

The Jose Rizal Award is given to agencies that collect 2,000 blood units or more. Other conferees of the award for this year include: Members Church of God International, City Government of Taguig, Iglesia ni Cristo, and Office of the Vice Mayor-Quezon City.

Annually, DoH recognizes organizations with significant amount of blood unit collections donated to the Philippine Blood Center.

The mayor expressed his gratitude to Muntinlupeño blood donors for their unwavering support to the city’s blood donation programs.
