PH’s best of the best showcased at the Kadiwa Rolling Farmers’ Market

SM Supermalls, in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture’s Kadiwa on Wheels, hosted a successful run of the first Kadiwa Rolling Farmers’ Produce Market at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds last April 29 to May 1, 2022.

Paving the way for farmers to thrive. Officials from the Department of Agriculture, RestoPH, and the Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement led the opening ceremony held at the SM MOA concert grounds on April 29, 2022.

Transforming the concert grounds into a huge hub for fresh produce and unique food finds, the Kadiwa Rolling Farmers’ Market brought together local food producers from the 13 regions of the Philippines. The participants were provided four to six-wheeler trucks so they can market their best-selling products, seedlings, spices, fresh and affordable produce, and fruits in season.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by DA USec. Kristine Evangelista, DA Deputy Director Junibert De Sagun, RestoPH President Eric Teng, SM Premier 3 SAVP for Operations Perkin So, and Philippine Culinary Heritage Movement Vice President Nana Ozaeta.

The best in the region. Showing off their dangit, dilis, bisugo, and other dried products, the food producers from Western Visayas also joined the rolling markets in Pasay City.

“We have started this program in 2020. We set up stalls in our malls for our beleaguered rural farmers to be able to sell their produce. The caravans were able to deliver a sustainable solution that directly connected farmers to the consuming public, and provided shoppers a chance to buy fresh, nutritious items at a lower cost. With programs such as this, we were able to make sure that not a single individual was left behind,” said SM Supermalls President Steven T. Tan.

The Farmers’ Produce Market Caravan is a joint project between SM Supermalls, the Department of Agriculture (DA), and Resto PH, an association of restaurants in the Philippines. Launched in July 2020, this program has helped thousands of DA farmers and food producers by providing them free spaces inside the SM malls to display and sell their products to shoppers and restaurateurs.
