Nowadays, it’s pretty much common to see people paying close attention to their phone screens. As the world continues to progress, so too does technology. Phones receive more upgrades every year. They started with the mere intention of letting people make instant messages and quick calls, but as consumer demand flourished, so did their innovations.

Today, cellular phones have evolved into smartphones that have new purposes that users enjoy. Aside from anticipating the needs of their user and being a clock, notebook, and more, smartphones also have platforms that allow users to play high-end games, browse social media platforms, take high-quality photos, and more.

Since the world is inching towards a digital orientation, more cellphone companies are creating updates and developing new units to provide users with a new experience or meet their expectations.

In the Philippines, several smartphones have made a name for themselves. These are Vivo, Xiaomi, Tecno, Infinix, and Nokia.

vivo

One of the key players in the smartphone industry is vivo. The company was founded in 1995 and entered the telecommunication and consumer electronics business with landline phones and wireless phones. But in 2009, it tried its hand in the smartphone industry. By 2011, Vivo has become one of the leading smartphone brands around the world.

As a technology company, vivo creates products based on a design-driven value, with smart devices and intelligent services at its core.

They now have over 400 million users and cover more than 50 countries and regions.

vivo prides itself in continuously pursuing extreme experiences that users will enjoy. They also boast of being the first to create several developments in smartphones. Some of their notable innovations include the world’s first smartphone with an elevating front camera and bezel-less display, the world’s thinnest smartphone, and the world’s first Hi-Fi embedded smartphone.

Xiaomi

Another smartphone brand that has taken the world by storm is Xiaomi. Its company, Xiaomi Corporation, was founded in April 2010 and has since assumed the role of a consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company with smartphones and smart hardware.

The company’s vision is to “Make friends with users and be the coolest company in the users’ hearts.” And to do that, Xiaomi continuously pursued innovations to create a high-quality user experience and operational efficiency. They relentlessly build amazing products with honest prices to let everyone enjoy a better life through innovative technology.

Due to their innovative products, Xiaomi ranked second in terms of smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2021.

TECNO

Since consumer demand is showing no signs of slowing down or stopping altogether, smartphone companies are continuously putting out new developments in pursuit of a better experience and adapting to the progressing world. This is the same goal for TECNO, a premium smartphone and AloT devices brand from TRANSSION Holdings.

It follows a “Stop At Nothing” approach because TECNO is committed to unlocking the best contemporary technologies meant for progressive individuals across global emerging markets to provide them with elegantly designed and intelligent products that inspire consumers to uncover a world of possibilities.

The company also understands the needs of consumers from different markets and supplies them with localized innovations and design breakthroughs that demonstrate their mastery of serving consumers who are “young at heart” and never stop pursuing excellence.

Aside from developing smartphones, TECNO is also involved in the business of developing tablets, smart wearables, and AIoT devices for consumers in over 70 emerging markets worldwide.

Infinix

Founded in 2013, Infinix is dedicated to building stylishly designed, cutting-edge technology. They focus on smart devices that are built to deliver great experiences in the smartphone industry.

Infinix makes their products from the group up using next-level technology and exceptional design. These products are created to empower the lives of today’s youth so they feel confident enough to challenge the norm and stand out from the crowd.

One of their notable products is the NOTE series, which was launched in 2015, that’s developed to enhance both business and daily productivity. And just recently, launched the Concept Phone with the world’s first dual color-changing back cover and 160W fast charging technology.

The company’s brand and products are present all around the world, with a key focus on emerging markets including Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.

Nokia

Many consumers have known the Nokia brand for years. Before the emergence of smartphones, the brand has established an image as one of the sturdiest and most efficient brands in the market. Slowly but surely, Nokia transitioned into the world of smartphones but kept the characteristics in their phones that users love.

Nokia started as a single paper mill operation that nurtured success over the years in a range of industrial sectors including cable, paper products, rubber boots, tires, televisions, and mobile phones. In 2003, the brand introduced the first camera phone and has since been in the pursuit of innovation.

The brand prides itself in creating phones that provide the necessary innovations without the added clutter.

The future of the smartphone industry

For years, smartphones have become a crucial part of everyday life. By next year, the demand will continue to flourish and pave the way for new advancements that will make life easier and more accessible.

By 2022 to 2023, the number of adults from developed countries who are reliant on smartphones is predicted to surpass 90 percent.

Meanwhile, smartphone sales are poised to reach 1.85 billion per year.

Many smartphone companies will use this opportunity to devise new strategies that will disrupt both the industry and the market. Mobile-based consumer industries will also be tapping into this growth to entice more users to their platforms.

Smartphones left a significant impact on the market and consumers in years. Their relevance can be seen and felt everywhere as more people, businesses, and industries have shifted their attention to technology and the various opportunities it offers. And like the ever-present demand of consumers, the developments in smartphones will continue to increase so that users may find the right unit that fits their needs perfectly.
