Miado expects a more prepared Miao this time

Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado might already hold a win over Miao Li Tao, but that only makes him even more cautious moving forward.

Miado and Miao go at it one more time in a three-round strawweight bout at ONE: NEXTGEN on Friday, October 29, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium – and the Filipino aims to continue his mastery over the Chinese athlete.

The 28-year-old landed a flying knee midway through the first round of their first bout to score a walk-off knockout. With that in mind, he knows the Sunkin International Fight Club standout is eager to return the favor, and he’s working double-time to make sure it doesn’t happen.

“I know he’s been training really hard for me, but I can assure you that I’m working as hard as him. There will be adjustments in his training, and I know he’ll truly be dedicated to beat me,” Miado said.

“When it comes to skills, I know I can adjust, for as long as my cardio hits [its] peak, I can hang with wherever he wants to go.

“I don’t feel that pressured. I think the toughest round will be the first round – not knowing his game plan and reading what he wants to do. The first round will be crucial.”

Miado feels that this match has all the makings of an instant classic, granted that the 29-year-old Chinese athlete decides to stick to his strengths and continue to trade with the Filipino slugger.

“I will do my best. I know this will be a fantastic bout. If he decides not to try and take me down and stay standing with me, I know it will be an epic bout. I really want to put on a really good performance. I just don’t want to come in there and show up without putting on a show.”

With what happened in their last meeting, it won’t be surprising if Miao is extra cautious in this match, though Miado won’t think twice about pulling off another highlight-reel knockout if the chance presents itself.

“I’ll still be going for that flying knee if given the chance. I’ll look for ways to time that again,” Miado said.

“[But also], I think my hands will also give him problems – especially the uppercut and my jab because I think I have the reach advantage over him.”
