Vera, Folayang lead ONE Martial artists in PSA Awards Night

Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and Brandon “The Truth” Vera lead the five athletes from ONE Championship, which will be feted at the 2019 Philippine Sportswriters Association awards on Tuesday, 26 February.

The pair will be joined by Folayang's Team Lakay stablemates in Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio and Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio as they will receive citations among others from the oldest media organization in the country.

Folayang was a major awardee back in 2017, while Vera also got a citation in the same year.

"It's an honor definitely," Folayang said.

"It's always a blessing to be in this position and be recognized for what we do. We hope that through this, we will continue to inspire others."

Folayang decisioned Amir Khan to claim the ONE Lightweight World Title for the second time at ONE: CONQUEST OF CHAMPIONS last November, while Vera defended his ONE Heavyweight World Title to Mauro Cerilli in the same night.

Belingon won the ONE Bantamweight World Title over longtime arch-nemesis Bibiano Fernandes by way of split decision at ONE: HEART OF THE LION three month ago, while Pacio and Eustaquio also ruled their divisions before dropping their World Titles early this year.

The five martial artists will be joined by several notable names in other sports including WBO mini flyweight champion Vic Saludar and Manny Pacquiao's trainer Buboy Fernandez

Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, skateboarder Margielyn Didal, and golfers Yuka Saso, Bianca Pagdanganan, and Lois Kaye Go, all gold medal winners at the 2018 Asian Games will be awarded with the coveted Athlete of the Year honors.
