A new list of sports activities will be out soon once the community quarantine measures throughout the country are eased down.

PSC Commissioner Ramon Fernandez

Philippine Sports Commissioner Ramon Fernandez said this following a board meeting yesterday and after the government sports body studied a roster of recommendations given them by the national sports associations.

“There are no additional recommendations at the moment. The chairman and the PSC board are looking into this,” said Fernandez in a radio interview.

The PSC has been asked by the government to help in deciding when sports activities can soon be allowed to take place.

In doing so, the PSC is continuously consulting with NSA officials over the last three weeks, looking at having more sports activities that can be allowed when general community quarantine protocols are enforced.

Fernandez said among the sports activities that can be possible so far is open water swimming.

Already getting approval from the Interagency Task Force for Infectious Diseases are certain events like golf, tennis, badminton, equestrian and skateboarding.

Many of the NSAs involved have already submitted their proposals and the PSC is still waiting for the others to make their submissions.

The PSC Medical and Scientific Athlete Services sports science professionals, headed by Dr. Randy Molo, has been tasked by Ramirez to take the lead in the evaluation.

Among the many NSAs which have sent their position papers are athletics, karatedo, rugby, muay thai, rowing, triathlon and the Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled.
