Eight-division boxing champion Sen. Manny Pacquiao has already tested negative for the coronavirus, but he and his family will continue to isolate themselves in compliance with the advise of their barangay chairman in Dasmarinas Village in Forbes Park, Makati City.

The 41-year-old Pacquiao explained that he has taken his test using kits sent over by friends from South Korea.

His negative result came hours after Dasmariñas Village barangay chairman Rosanna Hwang sent out a letter to residents, asking them to go into quarantine.

Three senators have already tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19, namely Sen. Sonny Angara, Juan Miguel Zubiri and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

Barangay officials noted that Pacquiao had close interactions with Sen. Pimentel, based on a video circulating in social media, showing him and a number of lawmakers and celebrities meeting with them over dinner in his residence.

The gathering took place on March 4 and not over the last two weeks, when Pimentel was seen moving around in Makati Medical Center, at the S&R Supermarket inside the Bonifacio Global City.

For now, Pacquiao said he is excited to turn over test kits numbering around 57,600 donated by friend, Chinese business magnate Jack Ma.

“Excited pa naman sana ako sa turnover ng 57,600 Test Kits mula sa aking kaibigan na si Jack Ma para sa Manny Pacquiao Foundation, ngunit minabuti kong manatili sa bahay,” said Pacquiao, who added he is willing to undergo more tests, but indicated there are others who need it more than him.
