Plans to put a national training center for football at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite are progressing.

Philippine Football Federation president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta is upbeat about this as the PFF strengthens its partnership with the Manila Jockey Club.

The FIFA-funded artificial turf pitch that they are developing is almost finished, with lighting towers about to be installed.

“We are just waiting for the AFC because the lights will be bidded out,” said Araneta.

The pitch is already in use as a training ground for national youth teams and club squads.

Araneta said the lights are expected to be installed by the end of the year. They will feature an intensity of 900 lux, more than the accepted 800 lux minimum for televised matches.

The lights will complement the hundreds of new seats that have already been put in place around the pitch.

Araneta also revealed plans to move the PFF headquarters to the SLLP premises.

“We have spoken to Manila Jockey Club about transferring our headquarters there. We are ready to start the bidding and construction,” said Araneta.
