The importance of hurdling Australian fighter Antonio Caruso is sinking in on Edward Folayang.

After suffering a loss last January, Folayang said this will be his chance to bounce back.

“Every fight is important. But I have a goal, and that is to be in the contender level again,” said Folayang in an online huddle on Zoom.

Folayang will be on the ring with Caruso in a featherweight fight when they meet in one of the undercards in ONE: INSIDE THE MATRIX on October 30 in Singapore.

The 35-year-old Folayang will be out for redemption after his loss via split decision to Pieter Buist nine months ago.

“He is studying my style and I am studying him. This will be an exciting match,” added Folayang.

The 29-year-old Caruso seeks to also win the fight, and follow the status of Folayang, who became a legend in the sport in the Philippines.

And it’s Caruso’s aggression that’s keeping Folayang wary and on his toes.

“He’s a legend of this division, a legend of this sport, and a legend of his country. And, that’s what I want to do. And to do that, you got to beat a legend,” said Caruso.

For Folayang, he just have to be careful with Caruso.

Before losing to Buist last October, Caruso had been on a streak, winning seven straight fights.

Four world title bouts will banner, One: Inside The Matrix, celebrating the return of ONE Championship’s comeback in Singapore, which went into lockdown in the early months of the year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
