Australian fighter Antonio Caruso has lofty goals.

For the 29-year-old Caruso to be a legend in the sport like Eduard Folayang.

Confronting Folayang on the ring and beating him, will allow Caruso to prove himself. The two meet in one of the undercards in ONE: Inside the Matrix on October 30 in Singapore.

“I want to achieve what Edward achieved. He’s a legend of this division, a legend of this sport, and a legend of his country. And, that’s what I want to do. And to do that, you got to beat a legend,” said Caruso, who is from Adelaide, on Zoom.

The 35-year-old Folayang said he will be ready for what Caruso will bring on the ring when they meet in the lightweight division undercard.

“Of course, every athlete na makaharap, may paghahanda iyan. So, ie-expect ko na ibibigay niya ang best niya sa aming laban,” said Folayang.

A win will allow Folayang to rebound from his loss via split decision to Pieter Buist last January.

Caruso also bowed to Buist last October via unanimous decision.

Four world title bouts will banner, ONE: Inside The Matrix, which celebrates the return of ONE Championship in Singapore, which went into lockdown in the early months of the year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the main cards, two-division ONE World Champion Aung La N Sang defends his ONE Middleweight World Title against the undefeated Reinier De Ridder.

ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian Lee takes on number one contender Iuri Lapicus. While Knockout artists Martin Nguyen and Thanh Le clash with Nguyen’s ONE Featherweight World Title on the line.

Women’s Strawweight World Champion Xiong Jingan meets Singapore’s very own Tiffany Teo in an epic rematch.

There’s word that Folayang will retire after his match Caruso.

But, ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said he does not believe so.

“The truth is he is still very strong. He’s very athletic and intelligent. I don’t believe that this is his last fight,” said Sityodtong.
