Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga is fighting with confidence after she got past a top notch fighter last February. This will help carry on her next fight when the One Championships: A New Breed happens tonight in Bangkok.

After standing her ground against top favorite Mei Yamaguchi last February, the 23-year-old Zamboanga knows and feels that she cannot let her guard down when she battles Thai National Judo Champion Watsapinya “Dream Girl” Kaewkhong in the women’s atomweight division.
Kaewkhong can be a dangerous opponent, being skilled grappler because of her judo and wrestling background,
Her 46-12, win-loss record is also something to consider.
“Hindi ako puedeng magkumpiyansa sa susunod na laban. Kailangan ay training pa rin ako,” said Zamboanga, who has been doing her workouts in Bangkok since February with her brother Drex.
She talked about her coming fight during an online Zoom web conference with Drex.
“The Menace” has been unbeaten in seven fights, including a unanimous decision win over Yamaguchi in her second ONE Championship fight last Feb. 28.
She added that Yamaguchi was her biggest conquest so far.
“Iba ang feeling kapag nanalo ka over a top fighter,” said Zamboanga.
Denice who trained in karate in her early years before adding grappling to her list of specialties, said she is glad to be in a fight card together with her brother Drex.
Drex is set to meet Thailand Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Champion Detchadin “Detchpool” Sornsirisuphathin in the flyweight action.
