Pacio, 6 others break into ONE’s rankings

ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio is just one of seven local stars to break into the first official rankings for ONE Championship in mixed martial arts, kickboxing, and Muay Thai.

The Home Of Martial Arts unveiled its rankings last Monday, 27 April, and gave fans a clearer look at where their favorite athletes stand in their respective divisions. 

Results will be published on ONEFC.com and the ONE Super App accordingly. 

“It is with great excitement that I announce the inaugural ONE Championship official rankings,” ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong said. 

“The rankings will bring more clarity and transparency for our athletes as they chase their dreams for a World Championship title. Fans can also follow their favorite athletes and their journeys more closely as they climb or fall in the rankings.”

Pacio sits as the World Champion of the strawweight division, with two other Filipinos making the cut. 

Catalan Fighting System’s Rene “The Challenger” Catalan is currently at third place while Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang rounds up the list at number five. The Japanese pair of Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta and Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito sits at one and two respectively while Brazilian Alex “Little Rock” Silva is at four. 

Pacio’s teammate Kevin “The Silencer’ Belingon is still the best contender in the bantamweight division, as he takes the number one spot behind longtime rival and World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes. 

Rounding up the division is Shoko Sato (2), Yusup Saadulaev (3), Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo (4), and Daichi Takenaka (5). 

Over in the women’s category, Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga currently tops the list of atomweight contenders as she sits at number one behind World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee. Team Lakay’s Gina “Conviction” Iniong is at number five. 

Completing the list of local stars in the first rankings is Danny “The King” Kingad, who currently sits at number two of the flyweight division. He is behind World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes and all-time great Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
