Adiwang’s lost love for downhill biking

As if you cannot tell from his recent performances in the ONE Circle, Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang is the type of person who loves to push himself to his limits. So it comes as no surprise that before being a star in ONE Championship, he was into another extreme sport—downhill trail riding. Adiwang enjoyed the fast life when he was younger, but he was later advised against pursuing it as he was too aggressive, often pushing his mountain bike past its limits, leaving him vulnerable to injuries.

“I did downhill mountain bike riding. I really loved it, but I eventually stopped it on the advice from others,” Adiwang said.

“They told me that I was too aggressive for the sport and it can actually lead to me being in an accident, so I really had to stop it.”

It’s a good thing Adiwang listened.

“Thunder Kid” is now one of the most sought after athletes in The Home Of Martial Arts, owing to his exciting performances in Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series, and his consecutive first-round main-roster wins over Senzo Ikeda and Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit.

Tough luck for him. He could have been riding with teammates Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio and Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, who also love to ride, but the 27-year-old has no plans of jumping on the seat again.

“I did that way earlier, way before them, so when I saw them doing it, I was excited for them because I know how fun of a sport this is,” Adiwang said.

Though he misses it from time to time, “Thunder Kid” knows it is better to be safe than sorry—or worse, injured.

“Of course I miss it, but I am in a different career now. I can’t afford to get injured.”Catch all the ONE Championship action live and for free by downloading the ONE Super App.
