Saso, the reigning Women’s US Open champion, emerged as no. 9 in the final women’s division list of the Olympic Golf Ranking as Tuesday morning.

On the other hand, Pagdanganan, who remained unmoved at no. 42nd in the last two weeks, is also a sure bet for the Philippines in the quadrennial meet.

National Golf Association of the Philippines secretary general Bones Floro said they now await the final say from the IGF, which will send member countries a message within the day on Tuesday.

Because of this, the  Philippines will have three golfers in the Tokyo Olympics, as Juvic Pagunsan also officially qualified last week.

With their qualification, the Philippines now has a total of 17 Olympians heading to Tokyo.

Saso and Pagdanganan now joins sprinter Kristina Knott, weightlifters Hidilyn Diaz (-55 kg) and Elreen Ando (-64kg) boxing flyweight Carlo Paalam, middleweight Eumir Marcial, flyweight Irish Magno, featherweight Nesthy Petecio, gymnast Caloy Yulo, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, jin Kurt Barbosa, rower Cris Nievarez, skateboarder Margie Didal, shooter Jayson Valdez, golfer Juvic Pagunsan, and Fil-Japanese judoka Kiyomi Watanabe in the Olympics.

The men’s golf competition is slated from July 29 to August 1, while the women’s event is on August 4 to 7.

The Kasumigaseki Country Club, a private course in Saitama, will host the Olympic golf competitions.

The field is restricted to 60 players for each of the men’s and women’s competitions.

The IGF will utilize the official world golf rankings to create the Olympic Golf Rankings as a method of determining eligibility.

The top-15 world-ranked players will be eligible for the Olympics and will have a limit of four players from a given country.

Beyond the top 15, players will be eligible based on the world rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country.

These countries will not have two or more players among the top-15.
