Pichay backs Meycauayan chess tourney

National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) chairman/president Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr. has thrown his full support behind the Bulacan 1950 and Below Chess Tournament slated on November 3, Sunday at the second floor event center, Aliw Complex, Mc. Arthur Hi-Way, Brgy. Calvario, Meycauayan City, Bulacan.

The tourney was organized by Meycauyan Chess Club in cooperation with Bulacan Chess Association, Noypi Chess Association Inc. and Novelty Chess Club president Sonsea Agonoy. It is also supported by Queen’s Travel and Tours.

Tournament director Richard dela Cruz said the 1950 and Below Division basis NCFP rating as of September 2019 will be played in a time control of twenty (20) minutes with 5 seconds time delay per move using the digital chess clocks with the winner taking home P4,000, second place P2,000, third place P1,200, fourth place P800, fifth place P600 and sixth to 10th places P500 each.

Special prizes of P500 each for the category winners in the Top Lady, Top Elementary, Top High School, Top PWD, Top Unrated and Top Senior (55+).

Registration fee is P300 but P 250 for female, elementary student, senior citizen and PWD.

On-site registration starts 9:30 a.m. while opening ceremony is at 10:30 am. Players are required to present their IDs upon registration for verification by the Tournament Registration Committee.

International Arbiter Ilann Perez, national arbiters Dela Cruz and Alfredo Chay of the Chess Arbiter Union of the Philippines will officiate.

Gio Troy Ventura, Cyrus James Damiray, Juncin Estrella and siblings Jeremy and Jersey Marticio took time out from their busy schedule to head a talent-laden cast of young woodpushers playing in the Invitational Under-14 Below Kiddies Chess Tournament.

Also playing in the (YMCA) Young Master Chess Association San Luis 2 Chess Club organizing event applying five Rounds Swiss system with a time control 20 minutes + 5 second delay are Eljon Balala, Alexander Carrascal, Lloyd Dalisay, Samuele Almonte, Celso Ulan Ulan, Pearl Cheska Pabico, Jean Rubio, John Curt Valencia, Nhiexel Pelisco, Tatiana Lago, Third Pondoc, Jhonny Boy Araneta, Je Macasalay, Reymalyn Araneta,  Percel Sandrejo, Ian Russel Encabo, Rommer and Everson Gongorio, Marcus and Dominic Serrano,Mark Joseph, Joycelyn, Elisha Faith and Jay Cris Saballa.
