The squash courts of the Kerry Sports gym inside the Shangri La Hotel in the Fort will most likely solve remaining venue problems that are being confronted in the final preparations for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

This is what officials of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee are considering, now that only three sports events still have unresolved venue issues.

“That's the backup. It's been used in an international competition early this year,” said PHISGOC venues director Dave Carter.

Carter talked about the remaining venues that needed to be put up while visiting the test of the modern pentathlon competitions inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone early this week.

Competitions in squash are supposed to be played inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, where the Philippine Sports Commission is to building courts that is according to the World Squash Federation (WSF) standards.

But work is expected to be finished by November.

And squash officials are still worried about the wooden squash court that needs to be installed.

Squash Racquets Association of the Philippines chief Robert Bachmann have told officials of the PHISGOC that the Kerry Sports gym is a good alternative.

Carter added that they are also getting in the process of having the venues for petanque and lawn balls ready.

Petanque is slated to be held at the Royce Hotel in Clark Field, Pampanga, while lawn balls can be done at the Clark field oval.

So far, there are 25 venues that need to be completed, according to Carter.

And most them will be finished by Oct. 30.
