The Philippines’ youngest Woman Fide Master (WFM) 45th seed Antonella Berthe “Tonelle” Murillo Racasa’s (Elo 1380) Cinderella run was halted by second seed Ruiyang Yan (Elo 1983) of the United States in the tenth round of the Under-12 Girls division of the World Cadet Chess Championships Saturday evening at the Yujing Hotel in Weifang, Shandong, China.

The 12-year-old Home School Global bet Racasa yielded to Ruiyang after 42 moves of Sniper defense using the black pieces.

Despite the loss, Racasa is still tied for 4th-8th places with 7.0 points along with four other players. She has gained 137.6 rating points from ten games according to Robert her father/coach.

“She began as the 45th seed among ninety players but she was able to play on Board 1 on penultimate round. She was able to upset seeded number nine and ten respectively. So proud of you anakis Antonella,” said Robert who is also an International Memory champion.
