“There are questions and they will be answered by the PHISGOC and the CDMs,” said Team Philippine CDM and Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William Ramirez.

Ramirez talked about the meeting following a discussion yesterday afternoon with members of the Philippine Olympic Committee executive board, headed by acting president Joey Romasanta.

“We will leave it to the PHISGOC to answer such questions,” said Romasanta.

For one, Malaysia is expected to raise issues concerning the readiness of the venue for the games.

Reports said Malaysian Chef de Mission Megat Zulkarnain is set to discuss with games’ officials the status of several venues that area still under construction, with the games set to be held four months from now.

So far, 12 representatives from Malaysia’s National Sports Council, the Olympic Council of Malaysia and National Sports Institute arrived in the country early this week to inspect ongoing preparations for the games.

Malaysia’s NSC director-general Ahmad Shapawi Ismail has visited Subic and other venues, reporting to Malaysian officials back home the status of the venues in the country.

There are now 44 venues which will hold events in the biennial meet.

When the games are held from November 30 to December 10, competitions will be spread out in different areas in Clark Field, Manila, Tagaytay, Laguna and Subic.

This week, the PSC began making renovations on the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, The Arena in San Juan and the Philsports Complex in Pasig.

Since Monday, construction workers have put up an enclosure around the historic stadium.

A budget of P800 million is available for the renovations from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

The first phase of the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac, which will host swimming and athletics, is expected to be completed by August or September.
