Mindoro gets PSC’s support

MINDORO Occidental has gathered all sports coordinators of the province including the Physical Education Teachers and Coaches to a two-day Sports Consultative Meeting.

Rep. Josephine Y. R. Sato and Governor Mario Gene J. Mendiola want to formulate a comprehensive development program of the Province.

Gov. Mendiola said that the Province does not have a sports development program for the past years.  

“We want to have one,” he said.

Rep. Sato wants to institutionalize the sports comprehensive plan of the Province.

“We want that to be crafted, to be submitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan so that it will become a law,” she said.

Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez of the Philippine Sports Commission, after meeting with Gov. Mendiola and Rep. Sato, ordered his staff to conduct the consultative meeting in Mindoro.

Some 80 sports enthusiasts attended, led by Gov. Mendiola, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Danilo Roxas of the Department of Education and Rep. Sato.

During the workshop facilitated by Dr. Sergio Opeña and Dr. Gemima Valderrama, the participants identified the best practices of the province and they came up with proposals how to make sports vibrant in the Province.

Rep. Sato thanked Chairman Ramirez for helping the Province to form and craft the Provincial Sports Development Program.

“We can push more activities including the indigenous people to be part of the Provincial Sports Program,” Gov. Mendiola said.

Mamburao Mayor Angelina F. Tria expressed her gratitude to the PSC and to all sports enthusiasts of the Province for taking the time to help them strengthen the sports development in the Province.  

“We will be there to help our children by engaging in sports activities,” Trias said as she expressed her appreciation to all for a successful holding of the sports consultative meeting.

Philippine Sports Institute National Director Marc Edward Velasco presented to the participants the grassroots programs of the PSC as he thanked Rep. Sato and Gov. Mendiola for holding the consultative meeting.
