The Philippine Basketball Association plans to hold more games per week during its planned restart.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial says the PBA restart will retain the same exciting format as previous PBA Seasons. PBA Media

This will ensure that the hoop fans will be treated to a full PBA season spotlighting all the teams albeit in a shorter period.

“Sa tingin ko hindi na natin babaguhin yung format. Ganun pa rin, pero baka damihan natin yung game days, (puwedeng) four or five times a week, or double o triple header (per day),” said PBA commissioner Willie Marcial in a published report.

The PBA season could conclude in two months under this new schedule which was discussed during a meeting between Marcial and deputy commissioner Eric Castro.

The proposal will be decided upon by the PBA Board of Governors which will meet next week.

The board will also discuss whether the PBA Finals would still be a best-of-seven or the semis to be reduced to a best-of-five.

“Yun ang mga pinag-aralan natin. Ginawa na namin at ipapakita na lang namin sa Board of Governors. Katulad nung Finals, hindi naman puwedeng araw-araw yun,” said Marcial.

The PBA honcho said the discussion also took into consideration the exposure of all the member teams who also have fans expecting to see their favorite players back on the hardcourt.

“Kung puwede mas marami mas maganda. Hindi naman maiksi para lang matapos agad. Siyempre gusto natin ma-expose yung mga teams,” said Marcial

PBA fans will certainly be pleased to learn that the coming PBA conference, which will necessarily be All-Filipino, will retain the same exciting format as previous seasons.
