Following a tight first quarter, Meralco got some head-start in the second, opening up a double-digit lead, 50-40, after an Almazan lay-up with 3:05 left before halftime.

The Bolts then carried a 56-50 edge at the break.

The second half was all about maintenance for them as they kept the Elite at bay by scoring timely baskets just then the latter was getting a little bit too close for comfort.

Though within striking distance for most part, Blackwater never really got a major run that could’ve threatened Meralco.

Nino Canaleta came off the bench to add 13 markers for Meralco.

Mike DiGregorio had a team-high 22 points to lead the Elite.
