Bacoor survived Rizal in a wild wooly finish before settling for an 87-84 decision late Tuesday night in the MPBL Lakan Season even as Bataan and Binan got back on the winning track following their separate wins at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

MAN OF THE HOUR. Gerald Anderson (3) of the Imus Bandera looks for an opening against the defense of Anton Asistio of Bataan Risers.

Still licking the wounds of their painful setback against the Pasay Voyagers, the Strikers immediately recovered from that stigma and added the Golden Coolers to their list of victims.

But more than picking up its seventh win in nine games, Bacoor became a part of history when the first-ever father and son tandem took the floor in the MPBL.

Marlou Aquino joined his son, Matthew, at the 3:13 mark of the final quarter and together they finished the job for the Strikers.

For the younger Aquino, it was a dream come true.

“Almost all of the things I learned in basketball came from him,” said Matthew. “We’ve been planning to do this even after I played my last game in the UAAP.”

The drama overshadowed the victories posted by Bataan and Binan earlier.

With Alvin Pasaol back in harness, the Risers of Bataan became more solid up front as they outlasted the Imus Bandera, 65-61.

The star forward from University of the East finished with 20 points and six rebounds and made his presence felt quickly in shoring up the Risers’ frontline.

Binan ripped Marikina, 82-72, in the other game.
