Moving up to fifth place has put the University of Perpetual Help back in contention for a Final Four semifinals slot in the 94th National Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball tournament.

And coach Frankie Lim said this offers his team great opportunities.

“We like where we are right now. It could have been better if we did not lose three straight games,” said Lim after the Altas beat Arellano University Chiefs, 57-45, last Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan.

With injured Edgar Charcos back in action, the Altas halted a three-game losing skid to improve to fifth at 6-5.

They can move into a tie in fourth with the College of St. Benilde Blazers (7-5) if they hurdle the solo-leading Lyceum Pirates on Friday.
Charcos, who rested for two games after suffering a hyperextended right knee, celebrated his return with six points.

Prince Eze led the team with 20 points and 19 rebounds, while Rey Peralta added 10 markers for the Altas.

The Altas Perpetual limited the Chiefs to only four points in the second period and were way ahead, 33-14, at the halft.
Michael Canete had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Chiefs, who now have a 5-7 record.
