adidas takes innovation to another level with Space Race

Through the Ultraboost 20 Space Race Manila, adidas celebrated the launch of the world’s most innovative and responsive running shoe yet— the Ultraboost 20.

Runners went through a 5km District Chase Challenge.

Released on Dec. 6, the Ultraboost 20 is the result of a partnership between adidas and the International Space Station US National Laboratory.

Each element of the shoe was designed for a specific performance-driven function, much like a space shuttle in which every part has a unique purpose. Runners are now able to boost their run to the next frontier with the Ultraboost 20’s completely new and innovative suite of performance benefits—Primeknit with TFP, Optimized Boost, Stretchweb, and Torsion Spring.

Together with adidas Runners Manila, adidas put these performance-driven functions to the test at the Ultraboost 20 Space Race Manila, which was held in The Mind Museum, BGC. The first portion of the event gave runners the opportunity to better understand their running strengths and opportunities through the Performance Quotient assessment sessions. Highlighting and acknowledging factors that limit one’s performance improves motivation and facilitates the effectiveness of high return on investment for personalized recommendations. Anthony Pangilinan, Jo Sebastian, Cam Lagmay and Aaron Azreg, and Steph Yee spoke to the runners about Mindset, Nutrition, Movement, and Recovery respectively.

Each session was set with a purpose.

The Mindset session was a sport-related motivational talk that helped strengthen the mind and enhance willpower, while Nutrition was session that informed runners the how-to’s of making healthy meals.

On the other hand, Movement was an engaging exercise to improve mobility that runners can continually practice during workouts and runs, while the Recovery session was an exploration of possible tools for recovery expounding on its benefits and importance.

To cap off the event, runners went through the District Chase Challenge, a 5 KM group race using the District Race app, which allows runners to explore the city using augmented technology. In a group of three, runners had to collect points by checking in at various locations. The three fastest teams per race category won medals and products from adidas.

“We’re so excited to launch the Ultraboost 20 at the UB20 Space Race Manila because it’s the perfect avenue for runners to holistically learn and maximize their potential to reach their fitness goals,” said Jen Dacasin, Brand Communications and Sports Manager.

The Ultraboost 20 retails for P9,500 and is available in-store and online at adidas.com.ph/ultraboost.
