The Cebuana Lhuillier-backed PH co-ed slo pitch team was off to a rousing start in the ongoing Co-ed Slo-pitch Softball Asia Cup in Pattaya, Thailand, from May 24 to 27, edging a strong Chinese Team, 7-6.
“I’m so proud with how the team played in the 1st game, beating a strong quality Chinese team. I know they have prepared hard for this and I’m confident they will nail one of those World Cup slots,” said ASAPHIL president Jean Henri Lhuillier.
The national team is eyeing to secure one of the three World Cup berths in this tournament. As of presstime, they will be playing Singapore in their 2nd game later in the day.
Coach Ana Maria Santiago expressed confidence of the team’s chances.
“We had a great training ahead of the tournament and I’m confident the team will deliver. We’re all hungry for a World Cup slot,” said Santiago.
Other teams vying in the tournament are Japan, Chinese Taipei, China, Singapore and Thailand.
