Zamboanga returns to action vs. Mezabarba at ONE Fight Night 9

Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga is wasting no time as she continues to chase the ONE Atomweight World Title.

The third-ranked contender makes her return to ONE Championship when she takes on Julie Mezabarba at ONE Fight Night 9: Nong-O vs. Haggerty on April 22 inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Denice Zamboanga

Zamboanga has remained one of the country’s top representatives in mixed martial arts, occupying ONE’s atomweight top five since 2020.

“The Menace” reached as far as the top contender spot after beating Jihin Radzuan and Mei Yamaguchi. Zamboanga continued to take names, decimating Watsapinya Kaewkhong to continue her red-hot streak inside the ONE Circle.

She did find a brick wall in her career, losing a controversial decision to Ham Seo Hee before once again faltering in their rematch.

But Zamboanga never got discouraged. Instead, she used it as fuel for her next conquests, which started last December when she dominated Lin Heqin in the Philippines.

If she can handle the tough Mezabarba, then she’ll once again hover around the World Championship category, but it won’t be easy.

The well-rounded Brazilian is coming off tough back-to-back losses to Stamp Fairtex and Jenelyn Olsim, and she wants nothing more than to return to winning ways and live up to the potential that many saw when she dominated Yamaguchi in her debut.

Zamboanga and Mezabarba will be joining what’s expected to be another loaded card bannered by the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title clash between Nong-O Hama and Jonathan “The General” Haggerty in the main event.
