Champion coach Bonnie Tan said he is still running the practice sessions of the Letran Knights and won’t be leaving any time soon.
Tan said this after he denied reports that he is leaving the Knights to become NorthPort Batang Pier’s head coach in the coming 2023 Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup, which begins on January 22.
“Ako pa rin ang nagpa-practice sa Knights. Sa NorthPort, wala pa akong nire-ready,” said Tan.
Tan is expected to stay with the Knights after they captured their third straight title in the 98th National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament last December.
He explained that he has been the team manager of the Batang Pier for the last 10 years.
Tan added that he has not named anyone to take over Pido Jarencio’s position as Batang Pier present coach.
No replacements have also been named to take over his position as Letran mentor.
“Wala pang appointment na interim coach. Pinapa-ready pero no appointment yet,” added Tan on the Batang Pier squad’s status.
