Azkals bow to Thais, 0-4, in ASEAN football meet

The Philippine Azkals fell in a 0-4 setback to Thailand, Monday night in their ongoing ASEAN Football Federation-Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 sortie at the Thammasat Stadium.

The Filipinos were stunned some three minutes into the contest when Thai booter Teerasil Dangda found the back of the net with a header off Theerathon Bunmathan’s free kick.

Dangda then flicked in a goal at the 41st minute off a penalty, scoring past Azkals stopper Julian Schwarzer.

The War Elephants then took aa three-goal cushion in the 57th minute, as soon as Adisak Kraisorn capitalized on a Dangda assist to volley the ball home.

Thailand got its fourth goal in the 63rd minute when Suphanan Bureerat scurried in from close range.

The Thais went on to reach the top of Group A with 6 points and a goal difference of +9 above Indonesia, which also has 6 points but a goal difference of +8.

On the other hand, the Philippines will face Indonesia at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Indonesia is in second place after securing a 7-0 victory against Brunei earlier in the day.
