A Party-list lawmaker has filed a House Resolution commending his fellow Bicolano, 9-year-old Bince Rafael Operiano, for his exemplary performance in winning the gold medal in the Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship 2022 held in Bangkok, Thailand last Nov. 4 to 13.

Operiano, who hails from Oas, Albay advanced through nine rounds of the competition in the under-10 category, where he bested 29 contenders from different countries.

“Saludo po tayo sa ipinamalas na husay at tatag ni Bince. Despite the challenges he and his family experienced such as limited funds and other logistical problems, he did not stop from striving to bring home the championship,” AGRI Rep. Wilbert T Lee said.

Reportedly, Operiano will be conferred the title National Master when he turns 10 years old.

Lee said Operiano exhibited strong commitment, steadfast spirit and pure dedication in bringing pride and honor to the country.
