The Letran Knights have acquired 6’1” shooting guard Deo Cuajao, who is expected to play in Season 99 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament next year.

Cuajao left the De La Salle University Green Archers and joined the Knights late last week.

Letran athletic director Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, has accepted Cuajao’s decision to transfer to the Knights, who are in a quest to complete their three-peat bid in Season 98, which kicks off next month.

It will be recalled that Cuajao joined the University of Santo Tomas Tigers back in 2019.

But Cuajao and teammate Mark Nonoy later moved over to La Salle and joined their cage team following UST’s situation involving the “Sorsogon bubble.”

Many players in the UST Tigers’ roster left the team after its coaches and officials were accused of allowing team practices in Sorsogon, without approval from the proper authorities due to prevailing COVID-19 restrictions at that time.

Cuajao is expected to showcase his talents as Letran sees action in the ongoing FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup.

Cuajao’s entry into the team comes following the departure of Rhenz Abando, who signed up with Anyang-Korean Ginseng Corporation team in the Korean Basketball League.
