The Pasig Cocolife Pirates topped the elimination round of the Pilipinas Super League 21-Under Luzon leg at the Bren C. Guiao Sports and Covention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga recently.
The powerhouse team of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, supported by Cocolife President Atty. Jose Martin Loon, SVP Joseph Ronquillo, VP Rowena Asnan and EVP Franz Joie Araque, finished the one-round robin elimination with a sterling 6-1 win-loss record going to the next phase—the quarterfinals, where it has a twice to beat luxury.
Gov. Dennis Pineda’s Pampanga Delta (5-2) dealt its ‘kabalen’ team Luid One Kapampangan (3-4) its fourth setback, 65-62, last Sunday at the jam-packed BCGSCC to grab second spot, along with ICC Blue Hawks in a three-way tie with Paranaque Worthrands in the team standing. The Blue Hawks handed the Pirates its lone setback so far.
Luid One and NBS Kris Cainta/Tawi-tawi finished the round with identical 3-4 slates, while Prime C Forte could only show a win (1-6) over cellar dweller QC-Bohol (0-7) in the league organized by PSL president Rocky Chan, with VP Ray Alao and Commissioner Marc Pingris.
“We’re fortunate to be on top in this high level of competition. Our boys are determined to continue our winning tradition for a mission,” said Aries Conde, Cocolife’s basketball operation head.
