The Philippines got a final goal from Sarina Bolden during a penalty shootout, sending the Philippines to a 1-1 (4-3) triumph over Chinese Taipei on the eve of Chinese New Year and into its first-ever stint in the World Cup.

Bolden sent in a right-footed shot to the top left corner that put the Philippines in the history books early Monday (Manila time) in 2022 Asian Football Confederation Women’s Asian Cup quarterfinals.

It was enough to send the Philippines to its first ever-stint in the World Cup.

The Malditas cried, hugged and screamed their hearts out at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, India as they joined three others who also earned berths.

Japan, South Korea and China also claimed World Cup seats, with the Koreans taking on the Malditas in the semifinals on Feb. 3.
