FILIPINO-AMERICAN fighter Mark Munoz may be headed to Manila to take part in the first-ever fight night of the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Manila.

But his presence here will still depend on his coming fight next month in Los Angeles, California.

Ken Berger, vice president and general manager for UFC Asia, said this ahead of their scheduled fight card on May 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“He’s in a fight next month. It will depend on his performance,” said Berger, who at the lobby of the MOA Arena, discussed their coming event dubbed “UFC Fight Night.”

The 36-year-old Munoz, who lost his last two fights, is among the well-known Filipino-American mixed martial arts fighters in the US. He will take on Roan Laneiro in UFC 184 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 28.

Known as the “Filipino Wrecking Machine,” Munoz has a fight record of 13 wins and five losses.

Edgard Tejerero, of SM Lifestyle Entertainment said it took them two years to bring UFC to local soil.

“I got curious about this two years ago. We talked to their executives if we can bring it to Manila. It was not easy, and it took us two years,” said Tejerero.
